Rental assistance
Section 8 rent support
Section 8 housing, also known as the Housing Choice Voucher Program, is a federal program that provides rental assistance to eligible low-income families, elderly individuals, and people with disabilities. The amount of rental assistance provided by the voucher is based on the family's income, family size, and other factors. For example, to qualify for Section 8 housing in Utah, families must have incomes at or below 50% of the area median income (AMI).
The Section 8 program is administered by Utah’s local housing authorities – click here to find the contact details for your nearest housing authority.
